The good, the bad and the ugly of the internet.

In this generation, the internet has become a source for information which everyone relies on. Since it is always available to people and it is so easy to use, everyone has turned away from the old fashioned way of finding information: books. The internet is now depended on by the upcoming generations of children as well as the already existing generations. There are both positive and negative aspects that make up the thing we call “the internet.”

The internet definitely has its advantages which make it “good.” The internet is a quick and easy way to obtain information and it keeps people updated with news. The internet also helps people reconnect with others that they have lost touch with. The internet has allowed websites like Facebook and Twitter to be created and flourish like they have. The internet is a way of entertainment for people, as it provides the world with unlimited games, music, videos and more. The internet has aloud for many great things to occur because of its existence.

The internet also has its disadvantages to it which make it “bad and ugly.” The internet gives an anonymous voice to people where they can add their pessimistic comments to ideas that do not involve them. The internet causes drama that then leads to confrontational conflicts. The internet also allows for online bullying to exist. The internet also enables hackers to cause chaos for people when their social security numbers are obtained as well as their credit card numbers. The internet can destroy the lives of innocent people because of its capabilities. It can also destroy the lives of the guilty too though and it can get people into trouble. When children and young adults use the internet, they sometimes use the internet in a negative way, such as when children take obscene photos of themselves and send them to someone else. The internet is able distribute those photos at a much faster pace to more people and allow for a larger amount of people to see the photos. The internet has many negative aspects to it which make it “bad and ugly.”

The internet has both positive and negative aspects to it which makes it “good, bad and ugly.” I believe that the internet should not be viewed as good or bad, but the way people use it should be viewed in that way. The internet has many capabilities to it and it is very useful for many people but it is often viewed in a negative way because of how people use it and abuse it. The internet is a helpful invention that has both its advantages and disadvantages to it.

  1. This is great!
I totally agree about th ambiguity of the internets character. I feel that in order to experience the good in anything, you must risk the bad and the ugly. Yay. =D

  2. I completely agree, our generation over looks the fact that we have so much information right infront of us. We can find just about anything our by means of the internet and we take that for granted.

  3. Such excellent points--and so sad that, when given the chance to comment anonymously, people will so often go negative. A rather sad statement on human nature.... :-(

  4. I like how you mentioned how online postings can expose the guilty. My dad always tells me about the crazy stupid things criminals will post which lead to their arrest. Some even use social media to brag about what they did.

  5. Awesome job Taylor!
I like how you mentioned that the internet causes a lot of unnecessary drama and confrontational conflicts. I think that it has become part of human nature to hide behind a keyboard. I think it is cowardly, and everyone should deal with their problems face-to-face.
    Keep it up!

  6. I agree with you that although it may be considered being lazy by some, there is no doubt in my mind that the internet is a great, easy, accessible way to access information that only 15 years ago was only available through a library.

  7. It is entirely true that the internet is not bad, but people misuse it. Excellent job!

  8. I agree with what you said about unnesecary conflict...hiding behind their computers most definitely makes people bolder! Putting aside all the serious issues with personal security, there is so much petty conflict that occurs on facebook and other social networking sites
